News Release

Wright Brothers Make The First Successful Human Flight

By: Ryan Sprenkle

The brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright have successfully completed the first engine-powered controlled flight on December 17,1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.  This is the first ever sustained heavier-than-air human flight in history. After many attempts with other air crafts, the brothers finally achieved success with their engine powered, wooden air craft known as the Wright Flyer I.

The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, are from Dayton, Ohio. They first worked in print, operating a business which Orville created.  When the new sensation over the invention of the safety bicycle grew, the Wright brothers took advantage of the opportunity to open a bicycle shop.  They used this business to fund their interests in flight and their first experimental air crafts, leading to the eventual first flight.

  1. Ryan,

This is good! You repeat 'first' idea in the first 2 sentences. Is there a way to combine this thought?

The last sentence in lead could be moved down into body. The body has good information. Were the piece to be longer, this information would be buried further down in the piece as there is additional info that may be more important to the reader that could be in the body of your piece here. Ex., what was the experience like? What were the implications? Keep at it! You are off to a strong start!
