AppsAppsAppsAppsApps

This article wasn't completely accurate in predicting how app-friendly Internet users are today. It is very true that most of what we access on the Internet are through apps. And although most app and and Internet use is for entertainment rather that information, apps allow us to access information in incredible ways. Even if someone checks their email from their iPad, looks up the news from phone, and listens to a podcast on their smartphone, they are still accessing the Internet in efficiently and  conveniently.
Not all apps are pointless.  If I use an app to check the weather from my iPhone, I'm still using the Internet for its intended purpose. The only difference is that I can check the weather quickly from  If I wanted to view a National Geographic movie for school,  I no longer have to wait for it to come on on TV or try to find a copy to rent. Now its as simple and convenient as ever with Netflix streaming straight to my Xbox in my living room.  If I wanted to contact a childhood friend that moved away when I was young, chances are, they'd have a Facebook profile.
My online interactions are changing, but they are changing for the better. The Internet is evolving into something faster and faster every day.  When I watch videos, play games, or IM friends, I'm getting it all done faster and when it's convenient for me.

My Expectations of a Comm Course

I'm not too sure what too expect yet from a Communications Course at Shepherd University. Just from the titles of the other Comm courses that I've seen, I feel optimistic.  I enjoy the use Mac computers in Comm 203.  I have been using Macs for a while and hope to learn more about the operating system and its applications.
I am not sure what a Comm course means to me yet. I am new to the Mass Communications Major at Shepherd and still a bit unsure if it is really what I want to do.  I hope I will enjoy it. =]
